The Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) will host a five-day virtual Green Hydrogen Regional Data Validation Workshop from the 2nd to the 5th of August 2021. The high-level opening ceremony of the regional data validation workshop will be held on Monday, 2 August 2021 from 9:00 – 11:00.
The aim of the regional data validation workshop is to have a more thorough check of the collected data to ensure that it meets the H2Atlas-Africa project specifications for the development of the H2Atlas in Southern Africa. The Regional Technical Committee comprising of different expertise will evaluate and validate the collected data before the production of the Atlas.
The immediate outcome of the project will be an interactive atlas, showing identified Green Hydrogen hotspots. It is envisaged that such a map will provide evidence-based information for policy-makers, researchers, and potential funders about the potential of a Green Hydrogen economy in the region.
The H2Atlas project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). SASSCAL is the coordinating partner in Southern Africa and has collaborated with the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) as a technical implementing partner. The project is being implemented in Angola, Botswana, Democratic republic of Congo, Eswatini, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Anticipated stakeholders to be part of the high-level opening ceremony of the regional data validation workshop are Members of SASSCAL Council of Ministers, High-level Government Official, Heads of Developmental Agencies, Businesses, and other relevant stakeholders in SADC.
The meeting’s attendance is strictly by invitation only. More details on the workshop will be provided in due course through the SASSCAL website. http://www.sasscal.org/
